Stimulate the modernization of wine production in Imotski County.

Successful implementation of the project “Increasing the competitiveness of wineries by introducing modern technology for production”, for which grants were approved at the “E-impuls” tender, Jokan j.d.o.o. from Imotski, has improved processing capacities for the production of top quality wines. The total contract value of the project is 508.904,06 kn, of which the share of financing from the European Regional Development Fund amounts to 300.000,00 kn.

The aim of the project is to increase the volume of wine production by introducing modern production equipment, expand the product range and increase the share of the wine market. The project tackles the lack of capacity to produce high quality and premium wines for the target segments of hotels and restaurants on domestic and foreign markets, increases labor productivity and price competitiveness of products.

Money from EU funds are co-financed by modern equipment for wine production, and bottling and labeling equipment. By purchasing pneumatic presses, plate filters, pumps, and stainless steel tanks, winery capacity will be increased and technology processes of pressing, filtration, fermentation and wine ripening will be improved, while the procurement of fillers, labels and bottle clamps will modernize the process of finalizing wine production, to strengthen the Jokan brand.

The project introduces a new, more modern technology into the winery’s production capacity, bringing the entire production process to a higher technological level. New production technology will enable better quality of wine, greater production efficiency, new product production, increased sales revenue and increased winery competitiveness on domestic and foreign markets.

Retaining technological advantages over the competition is particularly important in the production of top quality Jokan Cuvee and Jokan barrique cuvée wines, as well as quality Jokan Kujundžuša, Jokan Chardonney and Jokan Rose wines.

The project results will enable growth of sales to target groups of restaurants and hotels on the Dalmatian market, geographic expansion to other regions in Croatia and increase of exports to Germany and other European Union countries. Increasing the volume of sales will be achieved by expanding the product range and increasing the price competitiveness of wine by reducing operating costs.

The added value of the project is expressed through opening up new jobs, strengthening the manufacturing sector and contributing to the increase of Split-Dalmatia County’s share of GDP at the national level.
